The Prized Peony Stamp from Stampin” Up! is definitely a firm favourite with me. Demonstrating and sharing my skills is another firm favourite. There is no other pleasure greater than watching a crafter get that first stamp perfectly, learn a new technique or blend colours. Sharing the Peony Spotlight Technique was one of those moments.
SPOTLIGHT TECHNIQUE
The technique title is perfectly self explanatory. We want to spotlight one area of the card, highlighting it with colouring and a pretty edging. The same stamp is used throughout but is left black on white on the main body of the card.
The base for the card is Magenta Madness – one of the FIVE NEW IN-COLOURS FOR 2020/22 from Stampin’ Up! These colours are available in the cardstock, marvellous markers, ink pads and ink refills. Four of the colours are also available as Blends.
These gorgeous colours are
Bumblebee, Cinnamon Cider
Just Jade, Magenta Madness and Misty Moonlight
These are bright happy colours, just perfect to shake the blues and brighten any project.
Spotlight stamping
Stamp the large peony image all over the whisper white layer of your card. Then choose an area and cut a large circle from the middle. I used the largest die in the Layering Circle Dies.
Next cut a large frilled (scalloped edge) die – again I used the largest one. I did this in Magenta Madness.
Attach your stamped white layer to your card base. Add the scalloped circle over the cut out shape.
Colour
Add Colour to your die cut circle. In my Example above I have used the Magenta Madness Blend Combo and the Just Jade Blend Combo. How cute are these two colours together.
