When the spring and summer catalogue landed I knew immediately that Painted Poppies was going to be my stamp set. It simply blew me away, for many reasons, but also because of the symbolism here in the UK. They of course would also make a great Happy Birthday to you card.
The front of the catalogue showed me how versatile it was going to be and just a few of the ways in which I could use it.

Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to you, brings images of parties and fun. Lots of bright colours and cake. So of course to make a really pretty birthday card I teamed the Happy Birthday To You, Sale-a-Bration freebie with the Painted Poppies.

What a way to watercolour
I started my Painted Poppies Happy Birthday by stamping all the images in Tuxedo Black Momento, or Stazon will give you the option to water colour these amazing images. The Stampin’ Up! watercolour pencils give you a great variety of soft feminine colours with which to bring your poppies and cake to life. Honestly the only limit to your colour combinations is your imagination. Who says, flowers have to be pink, why can’t they be blue?
Change your Painted Poppies Happy Birthday layering to create a different card
Its really simple to change up your basic design. Especially if you are using matt and layers. Its easy to put them on a slight angle, not uniform squarely lined up. Pop them on dimensionals. Add some sparkle. For this I love using a Wink of Stella Pen over my watercolours. It adds just that faint shimmer.
