Hey friends and how are you today? Were you melting in the heat yesterday, or was it nice and cool where you are? It was sooooo hot yesterday, but beautifully sunny. It was the kind of heat where you did not mind being indoors, creating. Talking of Creating have you seen this gorgeous Peony Floating Accordion Card?
Its been a bit of a week here this week – there have been some really great things, and then some really stressful ones, like the washing machine deciding not to drain – yep water all over the kitchen floor, the upside my little four legged friend Yogi, thought it was great for paddling. Bless him. He does make me laugh.
Peony Floating Accordion Card
I first saw this card a few months ago and wanted to have a go. But, everybody was making it with 12 x 12 cardstock. Not something I have a lot of in my stash. So I set to work, seeing how I could rearrange things to get it out of A4 or Letter size cardstock. It seems to be all down to the cutting.
I initially watched the lovely Dawn Griffiths, and reworked her cutting onto A4 cardstock, and made a template. TOP TIP: If ever you are trying something for the first time I would definitely recommend that. Especially if you are changing things …… some copy paper works well.
Front and inside panels
How pretty is the front and the inside. I decided to use the PEONY GARDEN Designer Series Paper for this card. Along with my Stampin’ Blends. To showcase that you can colour your DSP and highlight only certain areas to create a SPOTLIGHT TECHNIQUE effect on your card.
I also hand stamped some of the images to create my own unique and personal panels, with sentiments and floral images.
The colours were really easy to choose for this project as I focused on the colours and imagery contained in the Peony Garden DSP. Petal Pink and Grey Granite are fast becoming a favourite combination. Subtle yet totally effective. Add in a pop of Just Jade and Mango Melody and this lifts the project to new heights
The Stampin’ Blends colours I am using for this are Petal Pink, Just Jade, Mango Melody and Just Jade. So pretty together.
Doesn’t the hand Stamped Peony From the Prized Peony Stamp Set look gorgeous Stamped in Petal Pink Ink and then coloured in the same colour blend with the pop of mango melody in the centre.
The whole card is closed and kept together with the Gorgeous Grey Granite Shimmer Ribbon. Soooooo pretty and sparkly. Chuck in a few of the Elegant Faceted Gems and wow what a pretty project.
