Purpose built craft space

Really Excited

I have been really struggling with not having the right layout in my craft space (wishing I had the space and funds to build a purpose built craft space …..  this can stifle creativity and cause great frustration.  Having lost my craft room just over a year ago – I have finally sold some of my craft storage furniture and was able to visit B&Q (Other diy suppliers available – lol) and decide with the help of my Mum and Dad what we were going to build in.

On Wednesday with the help of my kids I moved all my craft stuff into the lounge, bottom of the stairs and middle of the kitchen – the house looks like a craft shop bomb dropped on it.

Just some of the piles of boxes

And then this happened.    WOW – the weathermen were right.  Storm Emma and the Beast from the East met over the south west and created a snow party …………..

Sadly all the building materials were in my kitchen ready to have my new craft area done

But the snow had other ideas.  My Dad lives about 1/2 hour drive away and it was not possible to get here to do this.  (Their road is very steep and slippy)  And they had as much if not more snow than we did.

So whilst the snow was fun, trying to get around my house and the craft storage boxes was not.

We did however enjoy lots of quite time crafting in the lounge with the heating on ………. I am much luckier than many others, had a warm place to be and hot drinks ………

The storm arrived Thursday and by Monday – we had had rain and it had all gone.

Guess what …… my Dad arrived, drills, hammers, tool kit, ladders etc at the ready and we have made a start.

I am slightly excited and nervous at the same time.  The vision was all in my head, bless him he has had to translate it …… and will be creating a breakfast bar with purpose built shevling etc.

heres m just a little bit excited

Stripy Ribbon and Sponge Brayers

I kinda have a thing for ribbon, and really must use it more on my cards.  I love buying it but never like to cut it.  Teaming it with Sponge Brayers  and coming up with something different has created this card.

Lemon Lime Stripy ribbon and a sponge brayer

These are two new products in my craft stash.  So I decided that it would be a good idea to use them.

The Petal Passion designer series paper is just perfect for adding colour to.  Using the Sponge Brayers you can add as much or as little colour as you like.  Varying the tones over the card.

Whats more you get two brayers in a pack and they are washable.

How to Brayer

I love the lemon lime twist colour – along with everyone else and have inked my brayer with it.   I started to add colour to the Petal Passion dsp from the bottom right corner.  Brayering diagonally as you go up the card to the left hand corner.

You can add more colour by going over the area again – don’t forget you can’t take colour away.

This gives a lovely soft colour to the designer series paper.

Everyone loves Happy Wishes

And its nice to tell someone they are the best.   And this sentiment is just so darn cute and pretty.

Stamped on whisper white and cut with the stitched framelits, and matted onto lemon lime twist cardstock (cut with the layering ovals dies) it adds just the right amount of pretty and sentiment, whilst still keeping a fairly clean and simple feel to the card.

Cut that ribbon

The card base is once again Whisper White Extra thick and the next matt layer is Lemon Lime Twist – but you already knew that .   Next is that gorgeous brayered DSP.

I stick the dsp down onto the matt layer and then wrap my ribbon around so the horrid ends are tucked away.  I then create a crafters bow and attached with glue dots.  (Love these little guys they stick almost anything and are invaluable in your craft kit.)

Lastly I stick the whole lot to to the front of my card base.

If you fancy getting any of the above products don’t forget that you just need to click the shop with me button to take you to the online shop.

Lemon Lime Twist and Petal Palette

Hello folks.   I don’t know about you, but I love bright colours and I am always inspired by the way that our colours blend together seamlessly.  So Lemon Lime Twist has really brightened my colour palette.

When the new 2017/19 colours were launched I was really excited by the way that such bright colours melded together and could create such beautiful projects.

We’ve all made those creations that have one bright colour and then the rest is muted tones, but this colour palette of
Berry Burst

Fresh Fig

Lemon Lime Twist

Power Pink

Tranquil Tide.

has really fired my imagination.   I love the Lemon Lime Twist.  Its everywhere on the high street and is a beautiful bright colour which just adds joy to any project.

As you may already know I love the Petal Palette Stamp set and matching dies.  But there is also a gorgeous paper stack that goes with this lovely set.    Petal Passion is all black and white and is perfect for colouring with our blends or watercolour pencils.

Making this gorgeous card

Im using our lovely extra thick whisper white card to create my base and then layering Lemon Lime Twist on the top.  Now for the bit I really love.  Colouring.   Take a piece of the petal passion paper and cut a matt layer.  I’ve chosen to colour mine in with the watercolour pencils.

Use the gorgeous stitched framelits to cut a large lemon lime twist circle.  Whilst at the big shot, also cut the leaves from the Petals and More Thinlets in lemon lime twist.

Next cut a berry burst circle (again with the stitched framelits) and then pass it through the big shot using the Petal Pair Textured Impressions Embossing folder.  (The flowery one)

A little bit of heat embossing

Next gently versamark and use clear embossing powder on this and heat emboss.  Do the same to the lemon lime leaves.

Before assembling I have cut 2 pieces of the lemon lime twist mini striped ribbon to go down and across the card.

Lastly I have stamped and heat embossed in black the bird from the Petal Palette stamp set and the Happy from Happy Wishes Stamp set in the Sale-a-Bration brochure.  Using the dies cut the bird and colour.   Then fussy cut the Happy.

I love using this set and the colours just go together so well.

I would love to hear what you think, or what colours you would like to use.

When the new catalogues launch I quickly garner favourite stamp sets and the Petal Palette from Stampin’  Up! is definitely heading that way .  Combine it with Blue and you have an unusual valentine.

is such a gorgeous stamp set.   The images are beautiful – and so versatile.

I would have to say that this has got to be one of my favourite stamp sets of all time.   Combining it with the dies only enhances the versatility of this set.  Not to mention the gorgeous matching Designer Series Paper – Petal Passion – but thats a story for another day.

I’m loving creating lots of fun projects with this set.  The bird is just too cute for words.

Blue Valentine.

As Valentines is fast approaching I thought I would show you an alternative to the normal red hearts.  Who says a valentines card has to be red.  It can be whatever colour you like really.

Here is one of the creations I have come up with to fit the valentines theme but using the gorgeous Pool Party cardstock and inks.

How simple and cute is this.  And whats more it says everything you need to say.

Sometimes we don’t need lots of frills, lace and embelishments to make someone feel special.

I would love to receive this gorgeous card in the post.

If you would like to be able to make this card you need the following:

Whisper White Extra Thick Cardstock

Pool Party Cardstock

Petal Palette Stamp Set

Petals and More Thinlets Dies

Pool Party Ink

Clear Embossing Powder

Heat Gun

If you would like to purchase any of these goods to make this card please head over to my online shop.

Dauber Colouring – a new way to colour

I dont know about you, but I love to colour.  Its a great way to destress and relax.  I love finding new ways to use our products and dauber colouring is a new way to colour using inks and daubers.

Dauber Colouring – how do I do that?

Its a really easy technique to master so whether you have been stamping for a long time or are just starting out this is a great one for everyone.

Creating this gorgeous card is fun and it has lots of different elements to create a real wow card for the recipient.

Stamp your flowers from the Petal Palette set in Archival Black ink.   Leave to dry.

Whilst waiting for that to dry take your small whisper white piece of cardstock and stamp top and bottom with the dots (again from the petal palette set) in Lemon Lime Twist.

On a scrap of whisper white stamp the bird in Archival Black in and use the corresponding dies to cut the bird out.

Cut out two sets of the flowers from Berry Burst Cardstock and stamp with versamark.   Use clear embossing power and heat emboss.

Lemon Lime twist Sentiment.

Lemon Lime twist is the base for the sentiment.  Stamp your chosen sentiment in versamark and heat emboss with black embossing powder.   Cut the sentiment out using matching dies.

Using two daubers, and the lemon lime twist ink pad and berry burst ink pad, ink up your dauber and ink up the flowers and leaves you stamped in a dabbing motion, varying the pressure and going over some areas to create different depths of colour in your stamping.

Please this layer onto your Lemon Lime twist matt, and in turn stick that to your card base.

Ribbon edge

Using the ribbon edge punch, and lemon lime twist punch out a section as long as your top white layer.

Stick down the black DSP onto your stamped and daubed image.  Next add the ribbon edge you have punched out.  Lastly add the top matt layer, adding the berry burst heat embossed flowers and bird.

Lastly add your sentiment.
